About
Red Deer River South Campground is located in Red Deer River Provincial Recreation Area, 60 km southwest of Sundre on Forestry Trunk Road (Hwy. 734). This foothills campground is adjacent to Fisher-Wigwam Creek and offers close access to the Red Deer River for rafting, canoeing, or kayaking. OHVs are permitted, but must stay on established roadways. The campground is self-maintained by the Friends of the Eastern Slopes and operates year-round with 50 unserviced, first-come, first-served sites. A nightly fee is not charged, but campers are encouraged to purchase an annual membership. Amenities include firepits and pit/vault toilets. Toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and firewood are not supplied. Water from the hand pump is not safe for consumption; visitors should bring their own water and take their garbage when they leave.
