About
Maqua Lake Provincial Recreation Area is located on the eastern shore of Maqua Lake, approximately 37 km southeast from Fort McMurray. Access is 27 km south of Fort McMurray on Hwy. 63, 15 km south on Hwy. 881, and 10 km southwest on an access road. This provincial campground offers individual and group campsites at a quiet, rustic location. The non-motorized lake provides a setting for paddlers. Activities include canoeing/kayaking, beach access, camping, group use, picnicking, and wildlife viewing. The campground is closed for the season as of September 8, 2026, though the day use area remains available through the fall.
