Wells Gray Provincial Park (Murtle Lake Campground)
Provincial campground in Clearwater, British Columbia, Canada.
About
Wells Gray Provincial Park is located in the Cariboo Mountains of east-central British Columbia. Murtle Lake is within the park and is noted as the largest canoe-only lake in North America, offering pristine waters and 100 km of shoreline in a remote location. Canoe-in campsites are available along the Murtle Lake shore. A Mountain Pine Beetle infestation has led to many dead trees in the marine camping areas of Murtle Lake; campers should look carefully at nearby trees when choosing a campsite and place tents and canoes a safe distance from dead trees that could fall, especially during windy weather. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed in the frontcountry.
